**Geometry** helps us to describe, analyze, and understand our physical world. It can be thought of as science of shapes and space. Geometric forms can be found everywhere in this natural world. The skills and concepts developed through the study of geometry and Spatial Sense play an important role in other areas of mathematics as well. We use geometric models to help make sense of number concepts related to multiplication and fractions. We can apply understanding of spatial relationships to plots and graphs, to organize and interpret data and we also develop an understanding of measurement concepts such as area and volume by manipulating geometric shapes and figures.

The most common shapes in geometry are:

Each of these shapes is created by combining specific amounts of lines and/or curves.
