Angles

An angle is the figure formed by two rays, sharing a common endpoint. Rays are called the sides of the angle. Endpoint is called the vertex of the angle. Angles are also formed by the intersection of two planes. Angles formed by the intersection of two curves in a plane are defined as the angle determined by the tangent rays at the point of intersection.

In order to understand the angles in simpler way, lets us consider the following examples from the real life application.

To represent an angle, we write the vertex in between the rays. i.e., ∠AOB or ∠BOA

Example :

How many angles are there in the following figure?

Solution: ∠POQ, ∠QOR, ∠POR
