Addition Of Integers

When the integers have ‘like signs’ that is, when both the integers to be added are either positive or a negative, add their absolute values and assign the same sign to the sum.

Demonstration:

Add: +57 and +125

These are positive intergers. Therefore,

The sum of their absolute values = 57 + 125 = 182

Add: -32 and -94

These are negative integers. Therefore,

The sum of their absolute values = (-32) + (-94) = -126
