The Measurement of Capacity

Liquids like water, Top of Formjuice, oil etc. are generally not measured in the same metric like that of solid food like vegetables, fruits etc. similarly Capacity is measured differently, it is measured in litre and millilitre. Litre is written as 'l' and millilitre as 'ml'.

As for measuring mass we have made several measures to weigh the different masses as kilograms and grams. Similarly, for measuring different capacities there are several different shaped litre-measures and millilitre measures.

We know that 1 litre = 1000 millilitres (1 l = 1000 ml)

So,

500 ml = 1/2 of a

250 ml = 1/4 of a

200 ml = 1/5 of a

100 ml = 1/10 of a litre

If we have to measure 600 ml of a liquid, we use the measures of 500 ml and 100 ml capacities. To measure 900 ml of a liquid, we use the measures of 500 ml and 200 ml twice.
